Craft Project: Doily Bookmarks

Here's an easy bookmark to make for Valentine's Day or just because.

Supplies:
Heavy Weight Doily
Scissors
Exacto Knife

Here's the doily I used to make the bookmark. Any doily will do, you don't need the same one.

Outlined in black is where I cut the doily. Just work with the pattern of your doily to cut out a shape.

With an exacto knife, cut in the center of the doily. Once again, where you decide to cut will depend on your doily pattern.

Place on page.

I just finished reading "Fortune's Rocks" and have now started reading "Son of A Witch" (sequel to Wicked). What's everyone else reading? Recommendations welcome.

That's a really cute idea! I think my mom would love one of those.

I just finished (a few hours ago) Utterly Monkey by Nick Laird (good read, very different). I'm also working on the 4th book of the Elm Creek Quilts series. They're great chick lit books for the creative types.

What a simple idea. And my family loves books.
I just began "The Time Of Our Singing" of Richard Powers. I really love the style he writes.

Very cool! Is the doily strong enough to hold up to repeated uses? Wonder if you could strengthen it somehow..

Very cute idea, I may just need to make one of these for myself!

I've read the whole Wicked series (and everything else by Maguire) and it's fantastic! I'm reading Persuasion by Jane Austen right now (and of course I recommend anything by Jane). Hmmmm, I read a lot of books and I think I'd recommend The Five Quarters of the Orange, The Lacemakers of Glenmara, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, anything by L.M. Montgomery, and Midaq Alley. I could probably recommend hundreds of others too!

My mom collects bookmarks - this will be a great Valentine's gift for her. Thanks! I'm reading Garlic and Sapphires by Ruth Reichl. Yum.

Adventures in Dressmaking,

The doily I used has the thickness of a heavy card stock so it's quite durable. If you were to use one of the thin doilies, it would need to be strengthened. Perhaps glued to a heavy card stock?

Everyone,

Thank you for sharing what you're reading. I'm definitely going to check out all the book recommendations for future reading. Thanks guys :)

Just finished Book Four of the five part 'Percy Jackson and The Olympians' kids' series. If you like Greek mythology mixed in your fantasy this is great fun.
Speaking of Jane Austen, I also read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (85% Austen 15% zombie mayhem!) Great goofy fun
