Cath Kidston Desktop Wallpaper

Anyone else a Cath Kidston fan?  I was poking around the site the other day and discovered these pretty desktop wallpapers.  You can download them for free at the here.  There are some other prints to choose from as well.

Side note:  You may have noticed there have been fewer posts than usual along with no new craft tutorials.  I've been busy with a combination of things, a large project (can't share about it yet) and entertaining sick kids (the youngest just got over the flu, now the oldest has it).  Hope to be back crafting soon.

How To Type in Cute

Do these cute bear faces look familiar to you? Well if you guessed the bear Rilakkuma, you're right.  I first discovered this font on Pugly Pixel (fabulous blog by the way).  The actual download for the free font can be found at dafont.

If you've never downloaded a font on your computer before, check out the directions on the dafont site.  The idea of installing a font may sound intimidating but I promise it's easy and painless.

The best part about the cover is that you can customize it with your own photos. Besides the bunny template above, there's also a polar bear and frame template. Stop by Penelope and Pip to get the free download. And while you're there, may I recommend the paint dipped chopstick tutorial? It's a fun and simple tutorial.

Minimalist Hina-Ningyo (Girl's Day Dolls)

Anyone celebrating Hinamatsuri (Girl's Day, March 3rd) ? Well if you are, there's still time to do a little decorating for the holiday. I found this minimalist set of Hina-Ningyo on BCOME that you can print for free. The blue doll represents the emperor and the red doll represents the empress. If you decide to make the dolls, you'll have to sign up with cut-sheet first to access the printable. Once you get to BCOME, you should see the link in the post.

Just remember to take your dolls down right after March 3rd or legend states that your daughters will not marry late.

Want to learn more about Hinamatsuri? Here's a post that tells a little more about it.

Printable: Hinamatsuri Card

This year I decided to do something a little different for Hinamatsuri and host a party for my daughter and a few of her friends. Above is a picture of the invitation for the party. I'm going trying to keep it simple with light refreshments and a craft project. My plan is to pick up a few special snacks from the Japanese market. As for the craft, I still haven't decided.

You're welcome to use the graphic for personal use if you wish. Click on the image, right click, copy, save, and print. The graphic is designed to fit on a 4 x 6 card.

Here's what the card looks like printed out. I used the souffle pens to add a little extra dimension.

Printable Mini Paris City

I bookmarked this paper project by Made by Joel for a rainy day. Turns out that rainy day turned out to be a sick day for me. I needed something besides TV to keep the kids occupied so I printed out the mini Paris city. My daughter spent an entire hour meticulously coloring the people and buildings. I even let her use my good Pantone markers.

Click here, for the free printable by Made by Joel.

While my daughter was coloring the Arc de Triomphe I overheard her say, " I think it's a toy shop....(long pause).....yep, it's a toy shop." I told her what it really was but I'm not so sure she was convinced.

Printables: Blog Organizer Inserts

These blog organizer printables designed by draw! pilgrim have been around for a while but I thought some of you might be interested in them. They're great for organizing and setting goals for your blog. Even if you don't have an organizer, they still can come in handy. You can keep them on a bulletin board or your desk instead as a daily reminder.

Just out of curiosity, do you like to keep an actual organizer or do you use your computer/smart phone? I personally like to use an actual organizer to hold all my appointments and notes. However, I've been trying to keep more of it on the computer (ex. google calendar). This might sound strange but I feel like I can access/see it better when it's written down on paper. Anyone else like this?

Printable Camera Calendar

Need a new calendar for the New Year? Here's one of my favorites online, a camera calendar by Cannon Creative Park. The calendar folds down into a flat image of a camera. When the calendar is open, it folds into a square with four different 3D landscapes. It takes about three hours to make. My only complaint with it is that the open/close latches are difficult to use. Here are few pictures of the calendar I made.

Free Printable: Christmas Cootie Catcher

Christmas Cootie Catcher, say that three times fast!

Remembering my own appreciation for these paper toys, I decided to make a Christmas version. I actually can remember my first cootie catcher. In elementary school, someone brought one to school and of course I just had to have one. I remember telling my mom about it and she said she recalled making them. I can remember her trying to figure it out with a piece of paper. I even remember feeling impatient with her that she wasn't making it quick enough. Finally, she figured it out and I had my first cootie catcher. Curiously, I don't remember what was written on it... numbers? colors? jokes? That part is all a blur.

This cootie catcher has already been child tested and approved. When I woke up this morning, I found my children playing with the prototype. It didn't have the jokes printed in it yet but they were still having fun.

Click on image, right click, copy, paste, print. The printed images should be about 7" x 7". You might need to scale the image to make it bigger as well. Click here for directions on how to fold a cootie catcher.

Start playing!

Tell a joke.
