Child Pocketbook Slipper

I discovered these slippers on Miss Twiss thanks to craftzine. Miss Twiss changed the pattern to make button hole straps. You can find the original pattern by Knitwits heaven, here. They were so cute I thought I'd make a version for myself. Then I thought they would make a great little child's slipper. I altered the pattern to make a child's version (fits a child's size 4 -5 1/2 shoe). Here goes.

Size 6 needles

Cast on 5 stitches
Garter stitch five rows
Increase one stitch at the beginning of each row until there are 12 stitches
This next row, knit the front and back of each stitch to get 24 stitches
K2,P2 Ribbing to end until the ribbing length measures 3 1/4"
Knit 2together across to return to 12 stitches
Return to garter stitch, decrease one stitch at the beginning of each row until there are 5 stitches

Button Hole Strap

Knit five rows of garter stitch
Knit 2, yo, knit to end
Knit to end
Knit 2, tog2, knit 2
Bind off.

Fold in half and sew the ribbing sides together. Sew a button on the tab of the opposite button hole. Done!
