Creative Packaging: Bird Washcloth

This cute little bird washcloth was a favor from our cousin's wedding. It came wrapped up in a clear cellophane bag tied with gold ribbon. Curious how it was made, I dissected the washcloth to figure it out. I was surprised to find it's quite easy to fold. Posted below are simple directions on how to make this bird.

Start with a square washcloth with the tag facing up. Fold in half, diagonally.

Fold in the direction of the arrow (about one inch in width). Continue folding/rolling in this direction.

Your washcloth should now look like the image on the left. Now, turn it on the side so the corner of the washcloth is sticking up (refer to right picture). Add two small circle stickers for eyes.

Fold in half (refer to picture on left). Then fold the wings up. Secure with a rubber band. Then wrap with a decorative ribbon to conceal the rubber band. Done.

*These would look nice in yellow for a baby shower favor.

Mandi,

What a good idea, using it in an Easter basket. I might try that this year. Plus I'm big on practical gifts. Last year my son received a a beach towel in replace of the candy filled basket.

Boy this is quite timely. I have a baby gift to give and this will be the perfect addition!

I wish I knew someone who was having a baby right now! But I'm sure one of these days someone will. HOW CUTE!! I'd love to put a baby shower basket together using this! Thanks for the idea.

There is a bunny that is simple
like this too! Insted of laying the
legs to the side of the chck you
lay them over the part of the
chicks face. If you check out my
flicker tonight I will post photos.
They are also very cute!
We did them for easter last year!
My kids call the bunny a booboo~
bunny because I will put a Ice
cube inside the body middle before
I roll it then give it to them
when they get a bump. The cute helps to heal!!

So cool! We just came back from Disney World and everyday when we returned to our hotel room there were washcloth animals awaiting our visit. The girls were thrilled! Thanks for sharing this, we will try it!

Cute... When I chaperoned one of our school trips (when the kids took a cruise,) the cabin stewards always folded the towels into cute little animals like that.

Thanks for sharing this! It is what I was looking for. We are packing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas child and I thought it would be more fun to send a washcloth made into an animal than just a plain old washcloth.
