I first sampled this basil lemon cake at a party. It had such a fresh flavor from the combination of lemon and basil. I knew it would be perfect for potlucks in the summer. So of course, I had to ask for the recipe. Wouldn't you? Well, it turns out the recipe is from Simply Organic by Jesse Ziff Cool. I did a little poking around the internet and found the recipe
here. You will need to scroll down a little to see the recipe, it's the second one. Enjoy.

As you can see, I had fun decorating the cake. I placed a doily over the top and sprinkled powdered sugar all over the cake. Then I added some toothpicks tied with ribbon to make it a little more festive.
The recipe reads yummy, I think I might give it a try. The rest of the recipes on that site looks interesting too. Thanks for sharing! You cake looks good. :)
ReplyDeleteAww your cake looks yummy and is really sweetly decorated!
ReplyDeleteI love the doily pattern on top of the cake!! mmmmmmmm.... I can even smell it from here..
ReplyDeleteYou're making me hungry! I'd love to have this cake with some tea. Using the doily as a stencil + turning it to a lantern are both great ideas!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks so much for the stumble!
this looks so good!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! I really want to try that doily thing.
ReplyDeleteIt turned out so lovely after all the decors. I love the pattern, thanks for the link. I'll check how to make it.
