Old Jeans That Rock

Lately all of my son's jeans have been ripping. In fact, even today I discovered a new hole in a pair of pants. It's as if we have some hole making monster living in the house. So to make the pants last till summer, I'm applying patches to them. My son picked out this guitar patch; he was so excited about it. He's already making suggestions for other patches I can buy.

If you've never used a clothing patch before, they're really easy to apply. Basically, you just iron it on to the clothing. I also recommend sewing around the edges of the patch to ensure that it does not come off. You can find these patches at dollar stores, craft stores, and sewing shops. I purchased the guitar patch at Daiso.

  1. That is awesome!!! I love it! Thought I'd mention too that I've been having the exact same problem with my husband's jeans for the past year or so, he'd wear them maybe three times if we were lucky and then they'd rip. I ordered him a couple of pairs through allamericanclothing.com, they were about the same price as what I had been buying and they have yet to rip. I think I bought them 3-4 months ago.

Anyway, these patches are such a fun idea. I think when I use his old pants to make a quilt, I'll incorporate some fun patches into the quilt. :-)

  2. I am a total patch addict. People who know me well will bring me back patches from their trips ... guess I'm easy to please! I love the guitar (and want one!), and I also love that you are willing to repair your son's old jeans. The patches available nowadays are so much cooler than the "denim" iron-ons my mom used on our jeans. Of course, I'd craft with those things now ...

Thanks for sharing! I'm going to see if I can get some of those awesome patches ...

Oh! If your son really loves patches, he ought to pick out some for his backpack at the beginning of the school year. My son and I always do that as our special pre-first-day-of-school outing. So many backpacks look the same nowadays, and we have so much fun customizing his.

  4. My son has also been wearing out his pants. A robot patch would be perfect for his jeans.
