It's composed of small knit hexagons (also called hexipuffs). It looks so inviting and comfy and just plain adorable. And with fall approaching, I just want to curl up on the couch and knit one. I think I'm going to have to buy this pattern. What do you guys think?

I couldn't handle that much knitting. But it's so pretty! Instead I might make it from a bunch of recycled sweaters. ;)

You're right, it definitely is a lot of knitting. I think Stephanie said she used 500 of them to make the quilt! If I make the quilt, I think it will be a take-along project. My plan would be to bring it to sport practices and games.
I like the idea of using recycled sweaters :)

I like the idea of the recycled sweaters, too -- only use a single color to knit the hex's for the back side, so it's reversible. Too cool!
I also LOVE that quilt, and I know I have to have it. I've been trying to resist it, but there's a knit-along in one of the groups I follow...and it's pulling me in, little by little.
DO IT NOW. It's ridiculously fun. Again DO IT NOW so we can fawn all over it!
Oh, it looks like it would be so nice and warm, and with so many little pieces, it would be a very portable project, too.

I wonder - are they easy to do? I am looking to learn to knit, and teach the resident seven year old, so while it might take aaaages to knit all the hexipuffs (though I could always ask grandma and aunties to do a few!) if easy it would be a great thing to do so as to have a quick result.

I just bought the pattern and after looking at it, I would say it's about an intermediate level. You will need knowledge of knitting, pearling, increasing, decreasing, and knitting in the round.
Since you are just starting out knitting, I would recommend making a quilt of knit squares. Check out Ravelry for patterns. You can adjust your search by difficulty level and choose a beginner pattern.

In August I put it on my queue as soon as I saw this on Ravelry! Now I'm reading bunches of bloggers talking about it also, it's taken off like wildfire! I've noticed a lot of notes by people making it, seems there's lots of advice and group discussions. I hope to get this pattern later in the winter... it'll be a good project to take "on-the-go" and to use up scraps of yarn leftover from holiday projects.

I love my little hexipoofs. They are so sweet and easy and quick. My mom's doing a worsted weight and it is going so much more quickly. Lol, of course. But either way, they really are that cute. Join us. The madness is fun!
