Crafter Barbie

Recently I pulled my Barbies out of storage for my daughter. It got me thinking about Barbie and made me wonder what if there was a "Crafter Barbie"? What would she look like? So I did a little brainstorming, listened to this, and put together the picture above. I thought she should wear something that reflected other crafters/designers. So, I chose a print by Jessica Jones (How About Orange) which I found quite fitting. I think the print even has that Barbie feel: bright, vibrant, and fun. I decided she would come with a sewing machine, small craft supplies and a craft tote bag. Maybe there would be life size paper and stickers to play with as well.

I don't know about you but I would totally purchase Crafter Barbie if she existed. Would you? Just for fun, what would your Crafter Barbie look like? Or would she even be ''Crafter Barbie"? Maybe it would be "Knitting Barbie" or "Blogger Barbie"?

This is great! About 6 years ago, my sons were really into GI Joes and my husband jumped at the chance to join in the fun. Now I have a four year daughter and we just turned my old "Hawaii" Barbie it to GI Jane with face paint and gear. She loves it!
Keep havin' Fun!

I have a Barbie-sized pink sewing machine from when I was little. It even says "Barbie" on it, so she must've been a crafter at some point. Maybe it was on the DL?

LOL! What a brilliant idea! I was very tomboyish growing up as well and only had one Barbie.

You should submit that to Mattel! I'm sure they would love a fresh idea with a large demographic ;) I'd buy one for me...I mean my daughter...cough...

I bet they'll come out with one soon. American Girl has a popular Girl of the Year for 2009 who has her own craft table with sewing machine.

My crafter Barbie would have glue on her hands, paint on her cheek, and crazy hair from all the craft fails!

Renanda,

Isn't that the truth! Can we add that she wouldn't have perfectly manicured nails either.

OMG this is awesome!!! I'm with the others - you should totally submit this for production. Much better role model than skinny unrealistic Barbie!!!!

Oh my goodness. When I first saw that photo I jumped out of my chair. I thought it was real!! I would definitely buy a crafter barbie if I could. She could hang out on my sewing table all day. :)
