Upcycle Craft: Doll Headbands

Today we've been making these headbands for my daughters' dolls. They're quick, easy and inexpensive to make. My 4 year old made the one in the picture above. Directions below.

Supplies:
Bottle cap ring from soda or water bottles
Rhinestone stickers - you can find these in the dollar section of Michaels
Optional - paint, glue, beads

Cut a section of the bottle cap ring off with scissors. Refer to picture.

Add some rhinestones onto the bottle cap ring. You might want to glue them on even if they're stickers. This will ensure they don't fall off later. You can also paint the headbands and glue different embellishments to them. Just use whatever you have around the house; that's my motto.

Done.

I put her in this patriotic outfit in honor of July 4th. This is one of the outfits my Mom used to have for her Barbies. I'm not sure if my Grandmother made it or if it was an outfit you could buy.

Hope you all have a Happy 4th of July!

How cute! That vintage dress is really special. I had one or two really nice barbie outfits that I saved for my daughter, too.

Oh my, this is so thrifty, resourceful, and stylish. We have about 30 Barbies needing one of these right now. That outfit is lovely. I know why it has been treasured. Happy 4th of July!

She looks so patriotic! Great idea... although I think I'll have to hide this one from my daughter or our Barbies will soon be overstocked with headbands =)

That is the best use EVER for bottle cap rings. Now I need to find some dolls...Do you think Star wars guys will look cool in glittery headbands? Maybe we can adapt. Very pretty.

I have that same outfit as a hand me down for my Barbie, so it must be a store bought.

I had the same Barbie dress! It came out for the Bicentennial, I believe. At least, that's around the time that I received mine.

WOW, from the first picture, I couldn't even see the red! I've been dragging my feet to let my little one play with barbies (she's only 3, for heaven's sake!) but this makes me want to break them out pronto! (Maybe after I put her to bed tonight, Mama will get them out and do some reminiscing...) Anyway, I linked on my weekly roundup - thanks for sharing!

Came over from Dollar Store Crafts - YES! I totally had that Barbie dress, but the Skipper version.

It's a Bicentennial Barbie dress, circa 1976. Cool, hunh?

Fantastic tute - I love stuff like this.
